Wakefield is a city bursting with creativity and Wakefield Girls' High School is excited to be joining Artwalk Wakefield.
For ten years, venues across Wakefield have been opening their doors for a bi-monthly evening of visual arts, crafts, workshops, live music, and performances, offering an alternative night out. Wakefield Girls' High School is really excited to be the newest venue to open it's doors as part of this city wide event.
Date: Wednesday 25th September
Venue: Wakefield Girls' High School Art Department, Wentworth Street, WF1 2QS. Entrance to the event for Artwalk will be via Wentworth Street.
Exhibition details: Discover a fine collection of work by GCSE Year 11 and A-Level Art and Design and Fine Art students. Girls at Wakefield Girls’ High School are encouraged to take a multimedia approach, whereby their unique experiences are fostered in order to create a unique portfolio. Through the school’s innovative approach to teaching, known as ‘High Performance Learning’, girls develop their ability to describe, analyse and creatively respond to a multitude of artistic works from a wide range of genres, cultures and across medias. You’ll experience a wide range of work, from photography and painting through to mixed media, ceramics and textiles. You’ll also get to see the Art Department in all its glory and see where it all began for artist and sculptor Barbara Hepworth.
Everyone is welcome and most events are free, so there's never been a better time to discover a city that's bursting with culture!
We look forward to welcoming you.
