GCSE REsults 2020

Wakefield Girls’ celebrate excellent results as well as a commitment to study and perseverance in pursuing success in challenging times.

49% of GCSE results at Wakefield Girls’ were awarded at the top levels of grade 9 and 8 today and 72% passed GCSEs at Grade 7 or above with 100% pass rate for all students.

We are proud of all our students and delighted that 14 are celebrating achieving grade 9/8 in every subject, including six students securing 9 or more grade 9’s.

Headteacher, Heidi-Jayne Boyes said “These results are excellent and reflect the enormous amount of dedicated work that girls and their teachers have put in over the past two years.

With so much recent uncertainty around the awarding of results, following what has been a difficult and unsettling year, it is important we let our students know how much we value their achievements. We are celebrating their unwavering commitment to study and their perseverance in pursuing success in what are, by any measure, challenging times.
We are very pleased with our headline statistics but the most important thing is that individual girls have made excellent progress during their time at Wakefield Girls’. Our school has just been recognised as world class in a recent award with accreditation as a High Performance Learning School, reflecting how we work with our students to help each develop the skills, values, attitudes and attributes needed to succeed in her learning and life. We are most proud of how our students have developed skills that will help them succeed in life, wherever they may find themselves.
We are all really excited about our return to school in September and cannot wait to watch and support our students to continue to flourish.”

Students celebrating straight grade 9s are: Eleanor Bowen, Sarah Ng, Lucy Harding, Leena Hassanein, Savani Sawaikar and Maliah Sultanpori.

Students awarded grade 9/8 are: Emily Booth-Burke, Ayushi Chaurasia, Alexandra Moll, Hannah Poulton-Haselier, Sophie Russell, Mia Sedgwick, Molly Shone and Elizabeth Sykes.

Wakefield Girls’ High School are also thrilled to be able to offer a total of 27 academic scholarships to students who have attained grade 8 or higher in at least nine of their GCSEs.
