Mathematics

Ethos of the Department

Mathematics is the means of looking at the patterns that make up our world and the intricate and beautiful ways in which they are constructed and realised. Numeracy is the means of making that knowledge useful. The Mathematics Department strongly believes in fostering an ethos and appreciation for a lifelong use of Mathematics as well as meeting the demands of the curriculum.

The Mathematics Department aims to equip all girls with transferable numeracy skills; skills that will be used both within school and beyond. Alongside this we aim to instil in the girls logical abilities and characteristics of a mathematician. Overall our aim is to ensure that all our girls enjoy Mathematics and are enthusiastic about the subject.
