Roll out of WiFi across the Foundation

Over the Summer holidays, there have been significant ICT enhancements across the Foundation.

As part of the refurbishment of Mulberry House Nursery, the new bright and airy environment has been equipped with WiFi and a state-of-the-art sound system, which allows sound zoning by room.

Both the Junior Schools, including the girls Pre-Prep Department Mulberry House now have wireless zones, and the WiFi in Centenary House has been upgraded. There is also a new small computer suite for Year 1 and 2 girls in Mulberry House.

Both Senior School Sixth Form Centres are now WiFi hotspots, as is the QEGS Learning Resources Centre and the WGHS main school library.

Wifi provision allows mobile devices requiring wireless connectivity to be utilised in learning in the future. QEGS Junior School will be piloting the use of ipads in some lessons from this September.

All PCs at QEGS and WGHS Senior Schools have been upgraded to Windows 7 and Office 2010, ensuring that students experience the latest operating systems and software.

It is expected this upgrade programme will continue during October Half Term in the Junior Schools.

Interactive whiteboards have been fitted across different departments, continuing the programme of upgrading facilities across all the schools.
