The range of extra curricular activities increases as girls progress through school, adding that extra dimension to school life. Every girl belongs to a house - Barff, Lee, Mackie or Newstead, all named after part associates of St John’s House.

- Clubs include chess, team sports, computing, Spanish, crafts and the many musical ensembles
- Most activities take place during lunchtime - a few after school
- At break times girls can either play in the main playground with its adventure climbing area or in the quieter Reading Gardens, which have seating and tables
- There are Inter-House competitions in music and in many sports as well as the verse speaking competition
