The Junior School playing fields and Senior School playground were transformed into a huge street party with bespoke bunting and filled with boys from Year 3 to Year 10 engrossed in the vast number of activities on offer. The senior boys had put on a variety of stalls from sack races, tiddly winks, kicking footballs at targets and a big favourite amongst the pupils, the wet sponge stocks, where Mr Craig had his fair share of soaking! The Senior School staff band entertained and played music from across the decades throughout the morning.
After a picnic of sandwiches, Jubilee buns and crisps all presented in a union jack bag, 700 boys and their teachers congregated in the playground to sing the school hymn and National Anthem. After this the Head Boys from both schools gave three cheers to the Queen, reminiscent of Her Majesty’s visit to QEGS in March 1992 when the school celebrated its Quatercentenary.
