Skiing, outward bounds, visiting wildlife sanctuaries and spending a day as a Roman soldier all enhance life at QEGS. Boys in all years enjoy a day trip each term, and all boys in Years 3-6 enjoy an overnight trip during the year.

- Day trips enhance understanding of curriculum topics
- Overnight trips include visits to York, the National Forest and the Lakes
- In Year 6, the year group visit Brittany
- Easter Ski trip takes Year 5 and 6 boys, usually to France, to enjoy a week on the slopes
- Regular visitors to school include poets and musicians, as well as special guests to present prises and judge competitions
