Wakefield Grammar School Foundation and the Community
Wakefield Grammar School Foundation is an educational charity. The Foundation provides a continuous, all-round education to 2,200 pupils from 3-18 years. The Schools of the Foundation educate children from the Wakefield area, as well pupils from an extensive catchment area across South and West Yorkshire.

The aims of the Foundation are to enable all students to prosper within a stimulating academic environment, to pursue excellence and to realise their full potential within broadly based cultural and social surroundings.

The Schools of the Foundation deliver excellent academic results, above the national average, with demonstrated added value. The vast majority of Sixth Formers leave the Foundation to read degrees at top universities. Alumni networks excel in all fields of life. The Foundation believes a good education is a public benefit as well as a benefit to the individuals concerned.

The Foundation gives a high priority to providing public benefit with the following six key commitments:

Widening Access through Fee Assistance
The provision of Bursaries and Scholarships widens access to the excellent education provided by our schools.

Sharing Facilities with the Community
The Foundation’s facilities are regularly and extensively used by local schools and community groups throughout the year.

Nurturing Staff and Pupil Community Involvement
Teaching staff from all the schools of the Foundation get to share their knowledge, expertise and time with local schools and community groups, through initiatives both in and out of school.

Pupils get involved with the local Wakefield community through many ways including Duke of Edinburgh Community Service; reading schemes with local primary schools; school partnership events and fundraising/charity events.
