Following a year in Kindergarten, boys and girls are ready to be introduced to a more independent school routine. They remain in their Kindergarten classes, allowing the security provided by established friendships to continue.

- Pupils encouraged to work more independently
- Particular emphasis upon reading fluency with use of the library to research topics
- More formal learning techniques, with whiteboard based teaching alongside table based learning
- Joined up writing is introduced in the Spring Term
- Mornings focus upon literacy and mathematics
- During afternoons, children experience new subjects and engage in creative activities
- The school day is 8.45am - 3.30pm
