Many of our parents are actively involved in the life of the school! ‘Friends of St. John’s House’ – FOSJH, is the parents teachers’ association, providing an opportunity for friendly and cooperative contact between school and parents. It was good to see so many families participating in the games. These were created and run by Year 6 girls.
A total of over £1700 was raised by the morning! Bags 2 School (November 2009) A chance to clear out those cupboards and raise money at the same time. Bags returned to school full of clothing are collected and FOSJH is paid per kilo sent. Look out for the next collection later in the school year. Christmas Dinner Dance (November 2009)A chance for the parents to put on their “glad rags” and enjoy a child-free evening. This year’s event was held at Tankersley Manor near Barnsley. The excellent meal was followed by a disco, raffle, pound coin roll and an auction of a signed rugby shirt. Raffle prizes included a Land Rover experience, vouchers for several local businesses and many other items kindly donated by parents and Wakefield businesses. The event was a great fundraisers and a good time was had by all.
Pre-Prep and Junior School Discos The annual Pre-Prep and Junior school discos were held in the Spring term and proved popular with tickets selling out very quickly. The children thoroughly enjoyed both events – although the committee members are still recovering!
Easter Egg & Cake SaleJust before the Easter holidays, children and parents were given the opportunity to buy Easter eggs and homemade cakes at the Easter egg and cake sale held in Hartley Pavilion. This is a very popular event with the children due to all the chocolate available!
Also held at this event is a nearly new sale which is always timed well for picking up summer uniform ready for the summer term.
