Assistant Headmaster (QEGS) and geography teacher Luke Francis has been invited to join an International Expedition to Antarctica led by the Polar Explorer Robert Swan. (OBE).
Mr Francis will be developing, along with teachers from other countries, The Inspire Antarctica Education Program. This celebrates the uniqueness of Antarctica, explores the features of this wilderness that make it so special, and ultimately looks to empower learners to action, to appreciate that everyone of them has a role to play in promoting it for the future.
Whilst he is in Antarctica Mr Francis will be communicating regularly with schools in the foundation. It is hoped that some classes will be taught via a live web feed from the EBase and at other locations on the continent during March 2008. This link will be coordinated at school by his support team which will comprise of teachers and students from across the Foundation.
